Among all the mysteries offered by the Church for meditation, none is more powerful or fruitful than the Passion of Our Lord. In Calvary we see the summit of holiness, the perfect exercise of virtue, and the greatest cause of merit. For this reason, saints and doctors of the Church have always encouraged the faithful to contemplate it deeply.
This work, originally compiled by a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary—an experienced mistress of novices—was first intended for her Sisters. Its excellence, however, soon spread beyond the cloister, as many recognized its value for all devout souls. At their request, the reflections were published, offering to the wider Church a treasury of prayer and meditation.
This faithful reprint of the 1922 edition brings those moving meditations back into circulation for today’s readers.
